چکیده

Adler, Howard I. (Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Oak Ridge, Tenn.), and Alice A. Hardigree. Growth and division of filamentous forms of Escherichia coli. J. Bacteriol. 90:223-226. 1965.-Cells of certain mutant strains of Escherichia coli grow into long multinucleate filaments after exposure to radiation. Deoxyribonucleic acid, ribonucleic acid, and protein synthesis proceed, but cytokinesis does not occur. Cytokinesis (cross-septation) can be initiated by exposure of the filaments to pantoyl lactone or a temperature of 42 C. If growing filaments are treated with mitomycin C, nuclear division does not occur, and nuclear material is confined to the central region of the filament. Cytokinesis cannot be induced in mitomycin C-treated filaments by pantoyl lactone or treatment at 42 C.

The inhibition of growth or cell division in Escherichia coli by different ionic species of platinum(IV) complexes.

When a solution containing the complex ion, [PM&,]‘, and NH4+ ions is irradiated, a photochemical change occurs in which the chloride ions of the ligand are sequentially replaced by 1, 2, or 3 ammonia molecules. The total charge on the complex ion decreases by 1 negative charge for each replacement. These changes can be followed by changes occurring in absorption spectra or in ionophoretic patt...

Effect of alginate coatings containing Zataria Multiflora Boiss essential oil in forms of coarse emulsion and Nano-emulsion on inoculated Escherichia coli O157:H7 in beef fillets

The present study was carried out to compare the inhibitory effect of alginate coatings containing Zataria Multiflora Boiss essential oil (ZMEO) in two forms of coarse emulsion and Nano-emulsion on the growth of inoculated Escherichia coli O157:H7in beef fillet during 16 days of refrigeration (4 C °). Accordingly, alginate solutions (3%) with different co...

Time and Intensity of Electromagnetic waves impacts on the Growth phase of Escherichia coli bacteria

Background: Electromagnetic fields have various effects on the biochemical and cellular behavior of microorganisms due to radiation. It is necessary to investigate more extensively the effects of these magnetic fields on some microorganisms, such as bacteria. The purpose of this study was tp investigate the effects of magnetic fields on Escherichia coli bacteria (PTCC 1330). Materials and Meth...

Evaluating a murine model of endometritis using uterine isolates of Escherichia coli from postpartum buffalo

Ascending infection of the uterus with Gram-negative bacteria is responsible for postpartum endometritis in cattle and buffalo and can adversely affect fertility. Development of a laboratory animal model for bovine endometritis would facilitate the understanding of the pathogenesis as it is difficult to conduct controlled experimentation in the native host. In the present study, 30 virgin Swiss...
